Matt Spengler
Experienced Education Leader. Proven Results. Needham Parent.
As our Town Election on April 14 approaches, I want to thank everyone who has helped my campaign by holding signs, sending emails, hosting lawn signs and making donations. I am also proud to have earned a number of endorsements, including the one here from our State Senator Becca Rausch:
I am proud to endorse Matt Spengler for re-election to the Needham School Committee. Matt brings a wealth of expertise in education and executive leadership to our students, families, teachers and administrators. He has a proven record of success, stemming from his nuanced understanding of the School Committee's roles and responsibilities, his ethical, principled, and respectful service and dedication to our kids, our schools, and our community at large. I urge neighbors to join me in casting a vote for Matt Spengler for School Committee on or before Tuesday, April 14.
Thank you again. It has been a privilege serving Needham as a School Committee Member for the past 9 years and I hope to have earned your support for another 3-year term.
About Matt Spengler
My name is Matt Spengler and it has been an honor to have served as a Needham School Committee Member for the last nine years. I am pleased to share that I have submitted my candidacy for re-election.
I’ve spent my career working to improve public education and expand opportunities for students. As the founding Executive Director of Blueprint Schools Network, I partner with school districts across the country to strengthen teaching and learning, support educators, and improve outcomes—especially in underperforming schools.
My work has focused on helping districts close opportunity gaps, implement effective academic programs, and build sustainable systems that support student success. Before launching Blueprint, I founded and led a public high school in Oakland, California, where 100% of our graduates were accepted to four-year colleges. I was a high school English teacher for six years and today, I am also the Superintendent of the new Felix Commonwealth Virtual School that blends in-person and virtual learning.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with teachers, principals, district leaders, and communities to design and implement practical, results-driven solutions. I’ve seen firsthand what it takes to support students and educators at every level—from the classroom to district leadership.
As a Needham parent, with a child currently at Needham High School and two graduates of Needham Public Schools, I’m committed to bringing that experience home—working to ensure every student in Needham has access to an excellent education and the support they need to thrive.
If re-elected to the School Committee, my goal is to contribute to the long-term vision of the schools and to impact how students and families experience education in Needham Public Schools. Specifically, for the Portrait of a Needham Graduate initiative and the Pollard Middle School School project.
Thank you for visiting my website and I hope to receive your support starting with early voting on April 4 through Election Day on Tuesday, April 14, 2026!
